Jens Steemann Kristensen, Researcher, Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology

His work examines how buildings evolve from merely consuming electricity to becoming part of a decentralized energy grid that both produces and stores electricity. During his PhD at the University of Edinburgh, Jens investigated the fire-related risks associated with building-applied photovoltaic (BAPV) systems on commercial rooftops. For this work, he received both the SFPE 5 Under 35 Award from SFPE and the Harry C. Bigglestone Award from NFPA in 2023”
